When you think of Thanksgiving, what are you thankful
for? It is sometimes very hard to think of all the things that I am blessed
with, when I am blessed with so much. I have a family, a roof over my head, a
God that loves me, and wonderful friends that I have continued to grow closer
with over the years. I always give my gratitude to god for blessing me with my
singing voice and allowing me to have that talent to share with people. Some
people do not have even half of what I have. This year when I sit around the
table with my family, I will bow my head and pray for those that are less
fortunate then me. I will pray for the poor, the homeless, the abused, the
people that are way less fortunate than I am. They would love to be in my
position. I think it is crazy that some people are not thankful for all they
have and take everything for granted. I live each day like it is a blessing and
I think that everyone else should. All people want is money and more useless
stuff that will not be there for them in the long run. They neglect their
family, friends, and their God. Those are the three things that will always be
there for them. I will never take those things for granted. In the words of
Charles Haddon Spurgeon, “You say, 'If I had a little more, I should be very
satisfied.' You make a mistake. If you are not content with what you have, you
would not be satisfied if it were doubled.” Taking Charles’s advice I will be
content this Thanksgiving with all the things that I have been blessed with. I
will be thankful for the family and friends that have been with me through
everything, including the God above that will love me no matter what, through
everything. Now, when people ask me what I am thankful for this Thanksgiving, I
know exactly what I am going to say.
